Best SD card for Movies on SD450

I have an SD450 with a 1 GB card. I would like to begin using the camera for short movies and would like to get another card with greater memory. I ultimately want to d/l these movies onto my PC and possibly burn to DVD. I wanted to get a 4GB card but after emailing Canon, was told that the camera would only accept up to 2GB and no HC compatible cards can be used. Research into ULTRA and the regular format says that Ultra provides better "DVD" quality for movies. Will the extra cost of these cards mean better resolution or I am wasting my money??

Thanks in advance

I haven't seen any difference between Ultra II or regular SanDisk cards for video on my A620. They'll both get 9 min. at a stretch (camera limit) at 640x480x30 fps. You won't get any better resolution from a faster card, just faster (via card reader) downloads. However, your current SD reader may not support 2 GB cards even though Canon says the camera will. And beware of fake crds on eBay.

Thanks for the reply Jon.
I will first try and see if I can get a 2GB card (one that I can return if need be) and last resort, an extra 1GB card.
..and thanks for the e-bay warning but I wouldn't know how to shop on that if I tried ;)

Not to highjack, but I just got an SD550, thanks to you Jon, replacement from my defective 3 year old s230. Should I go with an Ultra II card or regular SD card from san disk. 1GB regular card is $15 from amazon. 2GB ultra is $40.

I don't see a difference between the two for video on my A620; I tend to do my heavy shooting with the DSLRs so I haven't really got a feel for how they perform for single-shot, though. If you shoot a lot, I'd go with the Ultra, if only because of better download times and because cameras will only get faster.

yea, I'll go for the 2 gb ultra 2. I have an XTi so I don't know how much I'll use this camera.
