We have some DIY tips to prevent these flashes from mis-firing. Please send us email for details if you want the trigger to be used with these flashes. The problem does not occur on Speedlite models of earlier generations. This would lead one to believe that it should work with the 550EX. You may want to send them an email and ask. Feb 17, 2007 07:35 | #6 Alright, I finally got and it works on both the Canon 550ex and the sunpak 383. The one thing I noticed with it is that after you fire it off, it takes about 8 seconds before you can fire the flash again. If you wait before then it will just miss fire. Have y'all had an experience like this? If so were you able to fix it or is this just the nature of inexpensive equipment. Thanks,

That's probably just the recycle time on the flash, not the radio system. The Sunpak 383 is a bit slow, especially with alkaline batteries.
