I can kinda see what you're saying about the halo in the center. However, I don't think it's a big issue. I ended up setting the vignetting midpoint to 100 and then gave it as much negative vignetting as I could. This almost completely solved the problem while retaining every bit of the original image quality. I also set it to linear contrast and bumped the blue saturation. Hope this works!

BTW: sorry for the delay. I decided to go out and shoot some in the cold before it got dark.

There's very noticeable vignetting in your processed image. I appreciate your effort and I like the further post processing, but it doesn't fix the 'problem'.

It's not even that much of a problem. I just wanted to document this issue; that's all. It's easier for me to use my 1.6x crop body than deal with post process as there's no script that can deal with that slight halo effect that interferes with any automated fix.

Thanks again for your effort.

It's been cold as hell here for months. Care to share what you shoot when the mercury drops?

Even my dependable geese are like "effin' hell no, I don't fly in this crap."

f8 as well, didn't expect that at that aperture

this might sound like a no brainer but have you tried it without the lens hood?

*runs away*

Tried to go shoot some trains tonight. Ended up not finding any the were at a particularly nice spot for picture taking. It was a waste of an hour, really.

If you think this is bad vignetting, you should try a Holga...lol. This is NOTHING.

I own 3 Holga's. I cherish them all; best $60 ever spent. As I've already stated I appreciate a lot of optics for a lot more than their absolute, static quality. I find very few times when you are using a 500mm lens though when you don't want a technically flat playing field. I don't know how many times this needs to be said, but this is a reference. That's all it is.
