Hi all
Over the last 3 years i taken loads of pics of aircraft both in large jpeg and raw formats and saved them all to disc in original and edited formats. All the shots were edited with ps2. I now wish to print off some of the pics, but when i try to print them to the size of 7x5, i print preview the shot first, the preview shows part of front and rear of the shot missing so i cant see the full pic what am i doing wrong, by the way some of pics printed ok but a lot won't. Can anybody help.

thanks john

Depending on the type of camera you have, your photos have either 2:3 (1:1.5) or 3:4 (1:1.33) proportions, but a 5x7 print has 1:1.2 proportions. That means that you will have to crop a bit off the long side of the image so it will fit on the paper.

this may explain why this is happening, some of the pics were taken with a 300D and some with a 20D so i will have to figure which pics were taken with what and adjust the print size to best suit the pic from that camera, can anyone advise what that would be.

thanks
john

you will have to crop a bit off the long side

Or increase the Canvas Size to make up the difference. This shows the 7" size increased, but you see the effect.

Both the 300D and the 20D are 2:3. P&S cameras are usually 3:4.

thanks for the suggestions but this does'nt explain why some of the shots i have taken have printed a full picture on 7x5 paper and others taken with the same camera have the part of the nose and tail missing and by the way i am no computer expert so any advice would appreciated but only simple explanations nothing to technical please.

thanks for the help

Go to page setup and make sure that the paper size is selected correctly. Also, if you have more than one printer installed make sure that the print settings are for the right printer. I have two printers installed and i always forget to make sure the right printer profile is selected......it wastes allot of paper :(

Have you cropped any of the pictures when you process them? The natural format for your pictures from the 300D and 20D are 4x6.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.
