I've been debating between a few lenses for about a month and finally placed an order

considered:

Sigma 100-300 f/4
Canon 70-200 f/2.8
Canon 70-200 f/4

Ordered:

Canon 70-200 f/4

the reason why I got this over the 2.8 is because all my shooting is outdoors, I will be shooting wakeboarding from a boat, a little bit of surfing and don't care to get in super tight (yet) , skiing/snowboarding, and a lot of photos of houses from the water. I hope I made the right decision and can't wait until Tuesday when it gets here. I'll update this with pics when it gets here.

Trust me, there's no way you can go wrong with this lens. One of Canon's sharpest. Outgrow it and decide to upgrade, you'll have no problem selling it with little depreciation.

Lots of advantages to this lens...being sharp and the lightest of the 70-200s helps...you will enjoy it and if you need to upgrade....it holds its value very well.

Well having the 2.8 aperture also allows the camera to AF more quickly (allows the body to utilize an additional AF feature), will give you a brighter viewfinder, and finally can allow better bokeh.

Cancel your order while you still can

I don't want to hear that! This is the choice I made since it was half the price of the 2.8. I can't justify spending twice for quicker AF just yet.;)

The lens came in yesterday morning and I skipped most of my classes to go around snapping pics. It was THE worst day for the camera to come in because it was a super dark day so my 50mm stayed on the camera most of the day but I did shoot a few with the 70-200.
