I am looking forward to buying 8GB worth of CF cards (2x4GB or 4x2).
Is there any really good deal running around lately?

Let’s leave eBay as the last resort, there are so many faked ones.
Newegg is not much of a choice too, since they won’t ship to Canada.

I was kinda thinking about SanDisk Extreme III, but I am open to suggestions..

Tigerdirect.ca have the best prices for flash memory of any of the Canadian retailers at the moment.

I don't put too much stock in the SanDisk Brand. I have never had a problem with any of my "cheap-brand" cards. I now use Transcend, and you can get a 4gb 120x card for around CAD$75, almost half the price of the SanDisk Extreme 3.

sandisk ultra II 2gb have still been in the $39 range. hard to beat. extreme III or iV are obviously a bit faster, but it may not make a big difference in cam.

You've seen the Ultra 2's for $39 in Canada? Where?

I do have a good experience with Tigerdirect, they are reliable and usually have competitive prices.
I'll take a look, they spam me with their emails anyway.. :D

Talking about cheap cards, my 2GB Kingston Elite Pro (50x) died just the other day.
They offer a lifetime warranty, but I was not really happy with that card.
It was obviously slower than my 80x Lexar Pro, even on my XT, and gave me more than couple of errors in about 6 months that I owned it.

I'm using RiDATA CF cards (2x 2gb's ATM, 1 4gb on the way) and haven't had a single issue (had them sense August) in over 5k pics and who knows how much general file transfers (I use three different PC's a day ;)). All are listed as 150x speed. I know no good way of testing them, but I know they "feel" a lot faster transfering stuff to and from my pc's than any MMC's or SD's I've used in the past. For $60 USD for the 4gb flavor off Newegg.com I'm tickled pink

The Ultra II's are a lot less than the Extreme III's yet perform almost as well in your camera....I think the 2G CF's were about $100 last time I saw them at Costco.

I was kinda hopeing to upgrade to 5D this year.
I’m not sure if Ultra II is fast enough for its big files..

A 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II at Tigerdirect.ca is $82.99 Cdn, and at B&H is $59.95 US or $70.97. If I buy two and pay UPS Expedited for shipping the total comes to $145.90 US or $172.72 Cdn ... or $86.36 per card delivered, excluding tax. Tigerdirect.ca with shipping comes to $181.21 Cdn (to Alberta) or $90.61 Cdn per card, excluding tax.

So, B&H is cheaper than Tigerdirect.ca by just a bit ... and you will get the cards in three business days. Even the tax will be slightly less buying from B&H since the price is lower.

edit: Doh, should have worked it out for four 2 GB cards. The savings will be even greater for buying from B&H.

I can't find amazon's Ultra II's for $39. Anyone wanna link me?

Also, I heard they were going for $20 at b and h a while back? Is this true or am I remembering this wrong? Because I am not in a rush to get one, so I could wait to get a good deal on them.

Ridata pro. Newegg sells the 2gb for $30 USD, and I think it's advertised at 150x.
