I've seen some really good smoke shots on this forum, but not really happy with what I'm getting. Could you guys post some advice on getting the focus right, lighting, and your post production that gets your images looking so good. And any other tips you can share with us frustrated smokers.

Thanks.

Hi Renboy,
I have done some smoke shots,,not sure if you consider them good or not but i can give you a couple tips if you like.

Focus: I prefocus on the end of the insense stick as it is lit up slightly. i then recompose to capture the smoke where i want it.
Lighting: I used a strobe at aprox 90 degrees to camera right. i also made a very rough snoot to lessen fall off onto my background. i positioned my setup around 4 feet away from the background.

Not sure what tips you need for pp .. i basically decided if i was going for black or white background. if white youneed to invert the image. Clean up any areas that may need it with either dodge or burn.
PLay with your hue/saturation levels. Sharpen
Done.

Hope this helps. Maybe you should post a few of you images and try to get some more specific help to your problems.
Good luck.:D
