I just wanted to share something I got into doing that has really been a blessing in many ways for myself and a lot of kids in my school district.

This past summer, I got back into photography after many years away from it. I went totally digital and even got brave and started up my own web site. It really was more of a hobby for me and something fun and enjoyable to occupy myself with as the youngest of my three daughters finally left the nest and went to college.

I've had so much fun, doing all kinds of photography...wanting to do more portrait stuff for families and seniors in the local school I teach at.

I started going to Friday night football games...then the Junior high football games...then basketball for both levels, and even recently doing the local "Little Dribblers" basketball league.

I was quite pleased with many of the shots I was getting and started posting them on to my site...partly thinking I might sell them to interested parties and also just to showcase my work.

It occured to me that I could run myself ragged doing a bunch of nickle and dime stuff and really...had no desire for that. So what I do now, is just post the shots, reduced to about 100k's in size and tell anyone who wants to feel free to download them an print them.

It is amazing the response my site is getting. We live in a rural area, and the kids are just taken up with seeing there shots on the net. I'm getting numerous emails from parents thanking me and asking me more details about how to print them. I've printed a few off the site and the quality is amazing for even that size. It is becoming the talk of the school and local area as the kids, from 4th grade to 12th grade anticipate seeing themselves in action. You'd think they were in Sports Illustrated or something.

And here's the kicker. I do it because I enjoy it; Not because I need the money. I have a full time job. Of course, there are more lenes and 'toys' I want to buy, so anything that can help finance my addiction is nice, of course.

And it's starting to come in. I've been asked to do the local team/individual shots...the school just recently asked me to start doing theirs...and I am even getting portrait jobs and a few weddings.

It really has been exciting...in so many ways. Just thought I'd share.

Tony
I use Canon gear...have several bodies and lenses and am quite pleased with them.

Great storyTony goes to show that when you do something for others ( and of course your love of it) good things will come your way. I can imagine the kids do think they are indeed a famous star seeing themselves on their computers! Please post your website name. Thanks for sharing.
