Well there really are only 2 that I know of cannons BG-E3 grip and one by Opteka which is just as good and cheaper MUCH cheaper.

The BG-E3 is for the XT right? I thought the XTi has a smaller footprint? That's why I didn't think it worked w/ the XTi? Cool...

bg-E3 works for the xt/xti


350d (Black) / Opteka Grip/Canon 18-55mm (kit lens) / Canon 50mm 1.8II / Tamron 75-300 4-5.6 LD /
Peleng 8mm / 2 Vivitar 285hv /
3 Pocket Wizards Plus II /

The new Targus grips (external link) are getting pretty good reviews, but I have not personally held one. $100 USD approx.

The Canon BG-E3 will fit correclty with your 400D.
It will be a great improve in battery life for you, and for hand hold the body !
You will enjoy it.

I have and like the Targus grip. Fell into it by mistake -no complaints thus far.
