While on the Second Annual California POTN Get Together the auto focus went out on my beloved 70-300 DO IS :(
I filled out a Canon Repair Request on line. I was given a Repair Order Number and quoted a price of $118.
Tuesday, January 30th I shipped it by UPS to the Irvine service center. To my surprise it arrived today by FedEx. That is less than a week turnaround. Wowie zowie.
Below are before and after images. They are straight out of the camera as evidenced by the sensor boogers (sorry about the tech speak:p ). Of course I did have to resize for the web.
In any case I am truly stoked about the service and glad to have my baby back.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.

Smart, those chinamen. ;-)a

Canon folks are good people, in my experiences. Glad to see things worked out for you. Fortunately, I've yet to have to send anything in.

I was pretty rattled when the focus went kaput. As you can see in the first photo it when it finally locked it was waaay out.
Sorry I didn't have any ducks handy so I settled for the dove. I just wanted to get it back on the camera to make sure it works.

I took a 70-200mm f/2.8L IS in for focus calibration, and it was completed and ready for pickup by the end of the next day... I'm not even a CPS member.
