This my first post here. This photo is of me flying an MD520N for the Honolulu Fire Dept. I just bought my 10D in December and set the camera for my fireman buddy to shot away. I've taken over 1000 photos already and continuously learning from this forum. Using a 70-200mm f/4 L. Sorry no tail rotor blur!

Great shots,

What shutter speed did you use? I love the rotor blur!

Thanks for the comments. The shutter was at 1/350 @ f/9.5 for both photos. I set the camera for Av @ f/8 after taking a couple photos and checking the histogram on the ground and handed it to him before I took off. I knew I'd get rotor blur at that aperature. He accidently moved the aperature to f/9.5. He took over 170 shots in a 1 hour time frame. I set the camera on a tripod, he took it off and started freelancing. He never used an SLR before. I threw away over 100 shots but still lots of keepers.
The basket on the side can be deployed by the pilot through the canister for net extractions or insertions. It is hung on a 80 foot nylon rope when deployed and attached to a cargo hook on the helicopter.
