But really,. there are a bunch of us yankees within about an hour or two of eachother (Mass, RI, Conn) not to mention a few NYers.. we should figure out what the best nature trek in the area is for at least a good long day trip.

Quabbin?

Sounds nice,. I've never been myself,.

Were are you in Mass,. out West?

The only thing I could come up with that I know about from experience (although I have not been back with a Camera yet)

...was Newport RI,.. where we have two excellent birding loactions
The Norman Bird Sanctuary,
http://www.normanbirdsanctuary.org/ (external link)

..and Sachuest Point;

Both seperated by a 5 minute drive... (or long hike) and also within about 10 minutes of Newport itself where if we grew tired of Birds,. there are rocky coastlines,. Mansions,. and the remnants of a fishing industry (docks and ships) etc...

I'm about 15 miles northwest of Boston, in Billerica. I was thinking Quabbin as it's more central Mass, open areas with birds and other wildlife. I've been to Quabbin, but not for photography.

Boston is around 5-6 hours south, depending how many times I get pulled over for driving an Aztek.
Used to vist there a lot. Friend used to teach at Wellesley.
I would really hate to screw up the birding for you guys in the Boston area so if there is a area a little farther north that could withstand the ecological impact of my presence I could meet you there.

I'm not sure that you'll be allowed to enter the country with an Aztek - visual terrorism is a serious threat. :)

Sounds like Vermont is the place. They might not even notice until we're gone. I know there's a large National Forest or something about halfway up the state. Woodstock, VT, maybe? Yeah, Green Mountain NF and Finger Lakes NF. http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/gmfl/ (external link)

Might take a bit of research to find the right place(s) to visit, but that's what the Internet is for. I'll check into things as much as I can.

If you've never been, CDS, the ride out Rt 2 and up Rt 7 is unbe-freaking-utiful. We might have to leave a day early since we'll be stopping all the time. Or you can take the fast, boring Rt 93 to Rt 84 path. We'll get there a day early but we'll still have plenty of film. :)

VT sounds good to me. I'll get Sheldon to follow this post and get him to come along to vouch for me if we get pulled over :lol:
