rotating & storing batteries ?

i have a few questions about batteries. http://sterlingtek.com​/I'm planning to use two steringtek batteries in an opteka grip and use the canon battery as a backup, to replace a steringtek when it is low...

1) can i have a canon battery & steringtek battery in the grip together, or would that cause problems?

2) can i rotate my canon battery or steringtek battery in when the other two are showing low life, so i can continue shooting while one battery charges?

3) will either brand of battery hold their charge while stored?

1) Yes, you can
2) Yes, you can, but you'll get about the same overall life by running the pair to a low battery warning then replacing both with one freshly-charged batt.
3) Yes, both will within reason (6 months will be pushing it)

4) can the grip accommodate a single battery? ie- could i replace the two low batteries with one good one, without removing the grip?

I bought 3 batteries and rotate them so that I have 1 original and 1 aftermarket. When they die I replace them with 2 aftermarkets, and when they die I replace them with the one original one aftermarket...........​....


No major problems, did have a quirky incident where no matter what the Tv was set to the exposure was noisy and much faster (doing long 3-7 sec exposures). It scared me thinking the camera was acting up but it worked again after battery removal.

I rotate three batteries through my grip and just keep shooting....
