Anyone have a recommendation for a super lightweight tripod? The weather is getting much nicer here in Seattle and it's almost hiking time. I guess that begs the next question...Any good backpacks for hiking with my camera? I want to be able to access my camera quickly instead of packing it away deep down.

Tripod - I use the Slik 613 Pro CF; about 4 ft. high at max, around 2 lb. including a 486RC2 head. I don't think there's really a good backpack allowing quick access to your camera - look at coupling it with a fanny pack maybe.

Fanny pack....oh boy. I don't think I can bring myself to that at this point in my life. Ha. I just found some cool smaller backpacks though. Thanks.

if you wear a fanny back across your chest (have the strap go across your right shoulder and under your left arm in a diagonal line) you can pull it off without looking like a tourist ;) believe me

Look at the lightweight Gitzo tripods. They are the lightest out there in CF.
