old can

ok, found an old tin that used to have some baking power in it. I thought it would make nice subject. But wasn't to sure how to shoot it. However I think the best shot of the day is these.

I like the angle and "pose" of this, but think it would have worked a bit better compositionally if you'd done it vertically.

I hadn't thought of that. to much space on the side?

lol - now that you've pressed me for the specific reason I find it hard to express. Sometimes you just feel something, ya know?

about the space - oddly it's the space on the rhs that I'd like to crop, maybe to push the limits a bit more, throw it more decisively off center.

can I crop it and show you what I mean?

You see I know there's a photo with this can. I just can't see it yet and I wont to see it

Its fairly subtle, but for me it anchors the can and makes the image stronger. What do you think?

your right the crop isn't much , but I think I do I know what you mean. the can is much large in the frame, hence it stands out more.

Well, I was going to say I liked your original color shot until I got down to Athena's crop. I have to go with her on this that it makes the image look more like it's SUPPOSED to be offset - in either, though, I really like the angle of the can itself!

I agree - the angle and also the lid placement are excellent.

I would agree with you. I like the color picture the best. To me the cropping does enhance the photo some.

I like the cropped version better, but I like the b&w as well. A sepia conversion might give it even more of that vintagey kind of feel. but then again, i'm a sucker for monochrome.

thanks. I wasn't to sure how the sepia would look and to be honest I really don't like it that much. B&W I do like and also the colour one.

I have cropped the original file to match what Athena has done.

use a different hue besides yellow in the duotone. also, you can add a really nice effect with a vignette border (prior to duotoning it). I'd make it an irregular border, and blur the edges extensively, and pour in white as the border color, then duotone it.

Really like the B&W version.
