I was amazed at how much memory people own and use (from below thread) so it has me thinking how many shots people take in one day. Either for vacation, wedding, etc.

That's amazing. Doing some rough math, it sounds like you took a shot every 21 seconds. You must have had that motor drive going a lot.

I'll estimate somewhere between 600 and 700... back in the day when I was more of a "spray and pray" type of shooter and used the burst rather a lot I'd shoot heaps and trashcan most of the heaps... I've since learned to pick my shots and it resulted in a big improvement in the time I spent going through them both in-camera and on the computer.. oh, and saved wear and tear on the camera :)

Mind you, I might still shoot 500 or 600 in a really big night across a few bands when I borrow a second 2 gig memory card but that's not that often.

A bit less then 2k. But luckly such days are very very rare. And how-to for something like this... 4 xc skiing races, ski jumping race, basketball match, and medal ceremony for those skiing races on evening. Pretty busy day

I'm in the 201-300 bracket. I've had a few 200+ days, mainly photographing family parties or sports events.

My record is somewhere in the neighborhood of over 5000 images in an 8-10 hour period, depends on how you define lunch and breaks for costume changes. In fairness, I had an assistant to take care of transfering cards to computer. All I really remember is it took 9 DVDs to archive the shoot. Two models, 3 sets, 3 costume changes. Much fun with a crew including a makeup artist, model's escort, photographer's assistant, stage assistant and even a hanger-on. That was a fun shoot. The impressive part is I only hit the buffer a couple of times.

During the period I had my 10D and the first 6 months of my 1DsMkII I tended to take about 2000-3000 images per 4-5 hour session. These days I take about 1200 to 1500 images and get higher ratio of good to bad. For what I was doing I needed to get 300 decent images per set as the goal.

Twice I have gone way overboard. In Kauai one day, I got trigger happy and rattled off almost 2500, NaPali coastline has that effect.

The other was a JV and Varsity High School games, made it over 2000 that day too

I have no idea. I know I've gone past 700 on at least one occasion, but I don't really pay attention and with several cameras going it's not obvious.

A couple of back-to-back-to-back sport day.

Baseball (practice) in the morning, football (Game) in the afternoon, and then a basketball game at night.
