Feb 07, 2007 12:25 | #18 I'm kind of surprised at the numbers. I would think a lot has changed since people have moved from film to digital. I remember in the film days, I thought taking 48 pictures a day was a lot. Since the 5D and 1D bodies are only spec'd with MTBF of 100K and 200K shutter releases respectively, I'm wondering if this resonates in your head while you're clicking away. I'd shoot a couple hundred a day with film at air shows. And since a replacement shutter's under $400 (even for the 1-series) that's 2 cents per 10 shots or thereabouts. OK, 2 cents per 5 on a 350D. Raw film costs more. Jon

I was nominated "official" photographer as there was no pro hired and I was the only person owning up to having a DSLR. It was my first and only wedding and the PP took a lot longer than shooting them in the first place.

I don't ever recall a time that 48 shots in a day qualified as a lot...I used the 250 shot magazines on my F1 and often filled two or three on race day. Even weddings used 180-200 shots. I'm in the 201-300 range. I hit this when I go on photo outings, but usually less. I setup the shots on the tripod, then bracket exposure. For the first little while I had trouble taking taking that many. I am fairly new to digital, and try to make every shot count as I did with film. -Ryan

Longwatcher obsolete as of this post 3,914 posts Likes: 3 Joined Sep 2002 Location: Newport News, VA, USA More info | Well given the type of stuff I do (model shoots) I have talked with film photographers (a few years back) and they would shoot something close to 30 or more 36 exposure rolls in a day or two to get 4-5 images in a magazine of an event. So I don't feel so bad after I found that out. "Save the model, Save the camera, The Photographer can be repaired"

It depends on what you are shooting! I broke the 400 shot barrier when covering a wedding for 12-14 hours shooting medium format film, when the bride had a very long shot list that was requested, and very large bridal party. And that did not include a large number of table group shots at the reception! (But purely shooting on my own in comparison, 50-100 could be a big day...I even have some ONE shot days on large format!) You need to give me OK to edit your image and repost!
