Hey.... just going through and doing a quick edit\transmit before I head out the door again and came across this one. This is UNC's "other" basketball team, their JV squad. You can see game attendance is down just a tad for these guys. I have to give it to them, they bust their butts trying to prove themselves and get a shot at the "real" team.

You can also see how just horrible the canon ef 28 f1.8 is in the corners... yikes. I don't think this lens will be seeing much more action.

I like the shot, it tells a story.
Maybe a little less floor but all in all I think it works.

What's so bad about the corners? I honeslty cannot see anything wrong from this photo.

I like it either way, was this an actual game or a practice session?

I like the floor the way it is...the reflections tell a lot, and that sell out crowd gives a lot away :P either way, just to have the "chance" has to be amazing to play there!!

Thanks everyone for looking.

Tellysurv.... yes, there were people but between my son who was assisting and myself we could have counted them all on toes and fingers between us.

DarrenL... the corners are horrible. Worse then a cheap disposable camera. They really are that bad. I am debating trying to get it "fixed", or just cutting my loss with it and trade it toward something else

MJ and Spangler... I just liked it because here were these boys giving it their all under all those National Champion banners - no crowd - no cheers - no recognition. Just basketball.

By the way, the boys did provide some good action too... plus that oh so clean background. No pesty fans to worry about.

Love that shot croasdail.

It must be my monitor as I still can't see anything wrong with the edges in the first photo. There is flare at the top corners but I assumed this is because you are shooting into the lights and the bottom corners appear out of focus but I assumed this was bokeh.

Am I being an idiot

Not and idiot at all. It's mostly because I have access to the full size image and you don't. The best way for me to show you with this image just how bad the lens is bahaving is looking at the refs. If you notice the ref on the right, you can see that his jersey is white with a hint of the black stripes. On the ref to the left, the stripes are all but gone except the very large ones. On that particular ref you can also see that the lens was suffering from some pretty harsh fringing on the top of his jersey. This image is unfortunately usable at best up to a small snap shot print. Above that the corners just fall completely apart. I really don't get into the whole pixel peeping thing, but this was even a bit much for me. Ah well.. the quest continues.

Thanks for commenting.
