I was considering getting a set of radio slaves for my current home studio setup. I was mainly considering a set of pocket wizard plus II. My only question was if I get 2 pw and have one on my camera as the transmitter and set the other one on one of my strobes as the reciver and then leave the other strobes set to slave mode, will they all sync correctly? I'm thinking to get two for now and possibly expand later on. Thanks

What light meter are you using.. Id get PW system if you are going to use a light meter that can trigger PW units.

An ideal wireless setup would be something like an L-358 w/ radio or better, (buy transeivers only) since they can be both a sender and a receiver. One on camera, and one to two on the lights....

I use optical triggers with my other lights and they work fine, and you can get away with 1 receiver if the lights are close enought to just use a optical slave. I would say go with two on the lights if you have money just incase, since ive had trouble getting optical salves to work when the lights are far away from eachother.

Yes, if the flash unit not connected to the Pocket Wizard has an optical slave mode.

If you want to take a bit of a gamble to save cash you might want to try one of the ebay radio slave devices for about $30.00.

Thanks Lon....I will check out the unit on Ebay as well as the AB radio flash trigger. Both look like they will do the job at a very reasonalbe cost. Is there any doubt to whether they could cause a problem with either the camera or strobes?

I just wanted to observe that two different people have very recently posted topics on 'stobes'...I guess the synch speed has been exceeded between the brain and the index finger of the left hand! ;)

I got the ebay salves... im happy for now.

It works, thats all I care. My max SYNC is 1/200 not 1/250. Thats the only problem I see.
