This is my third trip back to this image. It's jarring. Wait... that's a good thing. But I don't know why it jars. The simplicity of the old can in such low contrast color is almost a classical, while still lovely, cliché. And it's just as classically composed to lead your eye right to... to.... NOW! POWIE! What a nostalgia killer.
Is it because the modern graphics in their color and in-your-face fonts and shapes are so culturally distant from the ancient can? is it that you are confronting us with the cultural dissonance so powerfully that the thing jars? Is it like pickles on a peanut butter sandwich?
Regardless of what it is... you bring me back here, and I wonder. Wonder is a very good thing for an artist to convey.
Thanks for sharing.
