As far as rating and batch editing what is the best in your mind and why?

I really like Lightroom. With 1.0 you can now adjust the color of a selected color range. Say the groom has a red vest on, well it has more color than just pure red, so you click on the vest and push up or down and it adjust the saturation/hue and/or luminance to do what you want with it.

It now has a clone and heal tool.

It offers a great printing driver, slideshows, web galleries, etc.

Ability to add presets easily from others, and more importantly that there are presets being made available for it, both free and fee based.

Virtual copies, say you want a B&W, sepia, color, etc of a photo, rather than copying the file 3 times and taking up space, you can make a virtural copy.

Now keep in mind that it does all this in the meta data, so its not destructive to the original file and can be reset at anytime.

The only big thing Bridge has going for it is the ability to work with mroe files, like other adobe products, and the ability to run actions at the same time. If you could run an action while exporting out of Lightroom that would be incredible.

Lightroom is simply an awsome program,
i use it for each photo and then just export to photoshop and run a few actions and its done, so simple and easy,
i already pre ordered lightroom,
and hopefully in the future you can run actions from it, that would be great,

Lightroom has been in development for a couple years and they introduced the first beta for the Mac on Jan 6 2006, Windows version a few months later. First shipments go out this month.

This poll might be a bit premature because no one that I've seen on this forum has had an opportunity to actually use the release version. In spite of that, I'll give the nod to LR because I've been using the beta for some time and can see the benefits that will be there once it ships.

I just got the beta version. What does it NOT include? Can I use this forever?

Also is there anywhere to get a tutorial on lightroom?

The BETA version will expire at the end of the month. There are Lightroom tutorials by Michael Tapes here...http://pictureflow.fileburst.com …hotoshop_LR/01/index.html (external link)

I preordered Lightroom after playing around with the BETA version for a while. It is the dawn of a whole new era for digital photographers world-wide.

beta expires 2-28, once 1.0 is available you can do a 30 day trial. 1.0 does have a few new things the beta doesn't, as well as improved performance. If you decided to buy, and from adobe, enter macworld07 as a discount code to get 15% off. academic version if you qualify is half off.
