Hey all.

Moved to Maryland about 1.5 years ago and now living in Gaithersburg. Just thought I'd say hi and subscribe to the thread.

Hello all.

I am trying to plan an outing for the 4th of July. I want to shoot the Washington DC fireworks from the Iwo Jima Memorial/Netherlands Carillon area. For those that have done this before, what time of day should I plan to be there to set up?

Why thank you Sir. Glad you like it. You've got some outstanding wedding work yourself.

Well thank you. Your DC landscapes are amazing. (We can just keep complimenting back and forth) ;)

I grew up around Easton and there are some really nice places to shoot down there. Blackwater Wildlife Refuge, St. Michaels, Oxford, Hoopers Island. You also have Chincoteague, Assateague and the beach.

Hello, Mary-landers!

So I'm curious...any Eastoners ( or them parts) living here? My wife and I are in the process of looking for a home in Easton and hope to be settled before this summer.

I'm looking forward to pointing my camera at some new country and maybe finding some new POTN pals there.

Well, it's been 6 months now. The Holiday season is approaching quickly. Does anyone here have a place they like to go shoot every year on the weekend? I think I'd like to get out on a Saturday afternoon/early evening sometime in Dec.

Major Garden Center? Baltimore Inner Harbor or Aquarium?

We've had small meet-ups down in Kensington/Wheaton to shoot the Christmas lights at the Mormon Temple in Kensington and at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton. There's also a drive-through illumination at Antietam National Park (external link) one evening only (this year it's Dec. 6, with a weather date of the 13th). Annapolis also has a Christmas lights boat parade one evening.

I missed the boat parade last year, but this year it will be on the 13th.

I've shot that boat parade a few years ago and forgot we have that! It's a great exercise in manual exposure control and post processing. I may be out of town this year, but will keep that in mind.

Thank you for posting about Antietam, that is something I've not seen done before. I can't make this year due to an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, but will consider for next year. That's an all day family trip from here, for best opportunity to learn our history. Wonderful place, very meaningful.

Brookside Gardens (or similar) is now on my radar. I need to stretch my repertoire, as I do mostly local concerts; and steam trains, when I can get to them. The calendar is getting way too full!

Once it warms up, a few friends of mine and I are going to do a pin up session in northern VA. Thought I would invite photographers and models to join us. A friend of mine is allowing us to use his fire truck for a prop. I made a group on Facebook to keep everyone updated: https://www.facebook.com/groups/342710919246500/ (external link)

Friday, May 8. VE Day Warbird Flyover (external link) coming down the Potomac from Leesburg, running in across Lincoln Memorial down the Mall to around 12th St, then back across Haines Point to the Potomac again. Start planning your locations now!

Also there's a thread on the Cherry Blossom usual meetup, which may or may not happen this year.
