First shots with AB400 and buddha

so my girlfriend had to go to work, it was just me, siddarhta gautama, one ab400, the 5D and the 24-70. this is my first attempt at studio lighting, but i'm very excited about the possibilities. background is black foamboard, his wooden face is pretty reflective resulting in some "hot" highlights. no pp, resized and converted to jpeg. comments, critiques if you feel like it?

Your "black" background looks blue. Looks like you need to adjust the color temp.

Somewhere not too far back is a thread about white balancing for strobes. Maybe see if you can find it.

Probably the easiest way would be to shoot a calibration target (grey card, whibal card, white t-shirt, whatever) and use it to set the color temp for the whole batch with your RAW converter. If you're shooting JPEG then the standard procedure for setting a custom white balance should work fine.

i use a whibal and it works great. the alien bees are 5600. this can vary. it is a good starting point if you don't have a grey reference.

No, I haven't measured the color temp of the Sunpak yet. I did measure it on my Sigma Super and the results (here) were a bit of an eye-opener.
