I Tried another experiment off my "to try' list today. I call them Curves of Light ..kinda abstracty but i like them. it is water drops on a cd, and i saw them posted in this forum previously and decided to try my hand at it.
Taken with Canon 50mm 1.8 lens @ f/11 1/80 ss ISO 200
Light source was from overcast natural light through window and a floor lamp with about 25 watts globe directed at the cd.

Comments welcomed
Nic

I like the angle of the first shot but not the crop. I think the cd hole and disc edges steal a bit of attention from the subject. Great colors!

Nic, Well done! I like the reflection in the drops on #2, all three are very appealing.

Very interesting photos. There are many circles within circles. I think the barcodes near the CD center add contrast to the circles. I could hang one of these on my wall, particularly #2. Nice job.

All three are absolutely superb, but I can't decide between #1 and #2 as to which is my favourite.

This is probably the cleanes CD I ever have seen. :D I like the third one for the colors in the drops and the way the light throws "flames" of color. Also the crop/composition is very fine there. I'd eventually dim the inner bright ring a bit? Well done classic shot.

cheers

Habakuk brings up a great point about dimming the inner ring. Perhaps a cheap homemade set of barn doors could work?

I like the first and 2nd. In both they look like glass beads, and I like how there are the rainbow dots of concentrated light in each water drop in the second photo. Makes it interesting IMO.

Thankyou so much everybody for your kind comments.

About the suggestion of using barn doors.... i actually only used natural window light and a small 40 wt lamp directed at the cd for this.. nothing special at all.. so maybe further post work will be done on the inner circles.. i kinda like them but i lknow not everybody will

Thanks again
Nic

lovely Nic! I did a series of these last summer also with window light. I think sunlight makes the best effect. You've done a great job of capturing the colors as well as the (well placed) droplets. :)
