Heading to Vegas again this year and I don't want to lug my normal gear. I'd like a smal compact and not a powershot/S3 style camera. I'm looking at the Nikon L6 and the Canon SD600. The Nikon is 154, the Canon 200 (B&H PSJAN). They look darn close on paper with maybe the nod going to the Nikon due to the 1000 shot battery life and additional shooting modes? Whatcha think? Something else I should consider?

Dunno's it's relevant; I just got an SD600 for my wife. Aside from sheer cussed Canon loyalty, it runs with the same software as the rest of my gear. Otherwise, I'd also say to look at one of the A series. A bit cheaper and run on common AA cells.

Using the same software on your computer as your other Canons would be a bit plus for me. I would stick with another Canon.

Yeah, I agree with both above. If light and small is what you want take a good look at the SD600. I have one and my wife has an A610, it's small but not shirt pocket small like the SD600.

Thanks for the feedback all!
Yeah - I stuck with a Canon! My friend I met up with yesterday has a SD630 and spoke highly of it. He uses it for a quick snapshoter in lieu of his Rebel...So I opted for the SD600 and a 2 gig Kingston card. 230 from B&H. Those guys owe me some free glass or somethin' at this point! The SD was a bit more money than the A540 I was looking at but you can't bet the compactness of the SD.
