Does anyone happen to know the pinout for the 350D grip? Is it a simple straight connect between the switches?

Thanks in advance.

I was looking to make a pistol grip and the like with controls for shutter activation, shutter speed and aperture.

Shutter activation is not a problem as I can just use the remote jack. Shutter aperture and speed would only be controllable from the interface in the battery bay or through the USB interface (in PC mode).

Wouldn't it be simpler just to buy one?

They make pistol grips for the 350D with the same controls as available on the BG-E3?

If you mean just buy the grip to find out the interface I probably would if I had the money to burn. However, $100 CAN for the Opteka or $200 for the BG-E3 is a little much considering I wouldn't be using it for much beyond that.

Mostly though it was just for a fun project but it looks like at this point it would have to be shutter only as I forgot about the BUSY that shows up in the viewfinder everytime the USB link is active :(

You are in Canada. If you are around where I live, Hamilton Ontario you can use a meter on my grip to figure out what is what.

Thanks for the offer but I'd be mortified if something went wrong :(

Given the number of contacts it's likely they are simple switches (excluding the control dial) but if they're not I wouldn't want to fry your equipment.

Maybe next Christmas I'll get a portrait grip and work it out then :)

Thanks again,
e-k
