The first shot was taken with a Canon 85mm f/1.2 I.
The second with a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8.
Both with a Canon 1dmk2.
Your comments and critiques, your opinion on the B/W conversion would be very helpful!
Thank you so much, Carlo

Wonderful detail in the shots. I like the colour of the second better than the first.

I actually like the color of the first more. Did you use 2 different methods on the B&W, if so what were they?

Thanks dear POTN friends for stopping and commenting!
TKubik: I've started playing with 3 layers (multiply, hard light, screen), than double saturation layer technique to convert it to B/W; at the end I've applied a filter.

Now, these are astonishing demonstrations of craft. Plus they are each such personal character studies that they clearly transcend technique into the realm of art. Now for a piddling objection.

In both images I find my eye drawn to the lower left hand corners. In each case the blown out highlights are distractions which can be easily overcome in PS as opposed to additional cropping which will lose important parts of the information and feeling you're conveying.

These are powerful portraits...

Thanks for sharing,

Ted

Thanks dear friends for having a look and for your kind comments!
Ted: when i read about the highlights I looked at the photos and I thought you were right for the first one, but I couldn't see it in the second one. I thought it was strange, its a thing I normally care of. I've checked in PS and, actually, there are no H. The highest value in the first one is 249, 237 in the second one!
