Wanted to share my first shot with the new lens I'm blown away by the quality, sharpness and IS. Specially with this early morning shot, when I shot with my sigma 70-300 in early morning was constantly fighting light always shooting at ISO of 800 or 1600 to keep shutter speeds up to compensate for camera shake!
Now I know what I spent the money for this lens is amazing!
This shot was 1/13 at f/4 and ISO of 100 handheld of coarse

That's a nice shot there. I'm looking at the f4 and that makes me want to get the IS. Really clear and sharp. Keep shooting and those will only get better.

Thanks kbreit the sharpness of this lens straight out of the camera is amazing. Seems when you go to p/p later and add sharpening it doesnt seem to change very much. Im glad I went with the IS version now!

1/13 handheld!! Awesome. It's so cold here (-20C) so I havent been able to put my 70-200 f4L IS to the test as much as I'd like, but shots like that get me really excited.

it is a wonderful lens and i enjoy it immensely...however i would ask why you shot the picture at an ISO of 100 ?..it is true that the IS allows you to take pictures at shutter speeds that in the past were unusable..that said, you would be better off using say ISO 400 which would afford you shutter speeds around 50 or so..no reason to shoot at 13 unless lighting conditions necessitate it or you are simply testing the lens and the IS capabilitiy

Stunning.. that is very impressive work. Also be aware if that shot was taken at 200mm (x1.6) 320mm equivalent, you are waaaaay, way exceeding the rated abilities of the image stabilizer. Of course you could have very steady hands, which are cumulative with IS capabilities, so that is a credit to you too.

You can safely take ISO up to 400 with very minimal noise on the XT. I would do that just to provide me a bit more leeway against camera shake.

Welcome to the world of image stabilization....you can never go back ;)

Thanks! 1/13! That's sick.

I currently own the F4 non IS, and I'm thinking about upgrading. I've been debating heavily between the F2.8 IS and the F4 IS. The image quality of the F4 IS wide open is very tempting (so is the $600 I would save!).

I need all the help I can get.

Excellent!!! I have been playing around with an 70-200 F4L for a little while and the images are sharp!
