Dear fellow photographers n experts, here i am, scratching my head again, finally got the all new lenses n other gear, been running in and out of house everyday with all the excitment trying to capture something, BUT, with an interest in football, F1 and Tennis, i'd love to get access to the game and player, hence to build up my profolio.

At the moment, i'm on the conditional offer of being a future sport photographer, but they wouldn't give me much support just yet, so i was wondering if anyone know the process or details of applying for a press pass, such as requirements, could be both equipment or skill? or go thru certain association or agency?

if u know or heard anything about it, i'd be greatly appreciated!!!

You have a conditional offer to become a sports photographer and you don't know this stuff ? Who is your offer with ?

In the UK (as probably everywhere else on the planet these days), contact the organisers of the event you wish to cover. Actually, these days they will likely put you onto the PR company covering the event.

Cheers

Ian

well, it's a sports paper in China, that's why they wouldn't know too much details, they will get me a press pass next season, as this one is nearly the end, but i was kind hoping if i can get it then i'll be able to cover not just football but any other sports

Consider calling up the photo editor of a small newspaper and asking if they are willing to take you as a flyer...doing small gigs here and there and maybe some submissions once in a while. You may be able to get a pass out of that. I know a friend of mine did that for his small town newspaper and he goes into a lot of places others can't because he says he's from the newspaper. He also works that into free stuff for himself, such as getting into events and eating free food.

He's got a G5 with a 420EX flash on a flash bracket covered with black tape and a nice lens hood that makes his gear look that much more professional and expensive.

Some thoughts...
