I've never posted a pic of duck. Then again, I've never posted a "Yippeee!!! I just a got a new lens!" thread to warrant demand for a duck shot either. ;)

I've always wondered how this tradition started.

While I won't deny that I've praised my lenses in threads other people have started, I can say, however, I never started a thread with a title like:

"Look what Brown just brought me!"
"Ordered my first L!"
"I just pulled the trigger!"
"I had to take out a second mortage and my wife is going to kill me, but I got an L!"
"I chased down the UPS truck, almost killed some pedestrians, but I got my nifty fifty!"

I do recall a thread I started about me getting a Leica APO 100mm f2,8 Macro and being fairly estatic about the optical performance. But the title wasn't "Yippee!!!! My first Leica!" ;)

How is that Leica doing? Is it the ultimate L?
