As any hockey parent knows, you get to meet a lot of nice people from opposing teams. One parent from this weekend shoots a lot of hockey with his Nikon (don't know what lens). Many of his shots are posted at http://parkcountyhockey.org/Gallery/albums.php (external link). He sent this along after we shared links:

Dan,
What megapixel size is your Canon? The size and clarity of those images are really impressive, particularly if you are posting at medium size.

We did have a lot of light. Here's one of those shots (ISO 100, 1/2500Tv f/2.8 grinning through my sunglasses!) I chose this one because the player trying to make up for not having good position on the puck carrier is my son. If you go to smugmug to view the photo take a look at the original size version (external link). That is a jpeg saved from DPP at quality 6.

All comments and criticism happily accepted. BTW - is that a sunburn on the linesman's face? ;)

Dan

Wow just looked at the full size version, thats great! I don't know about a sunburn but the sun glasses on a ref at a hockey game cracks me up.

well, that is a crisp, well-exposed & nicely colored shot. no wonder the N-man is jealous.

the bright light makes its own challenges. that's a nice shot. your son is doing his part, if only #5 puts his stick on the ice to take advantage of the opportunity. good work, both of you.

Very nice. It must have been fun shooting hockey with excellent lighting for a change. Considering I use much the same equipment as you shoot that is very encouraging to see.:)

If you can do it, I can do it. I just have to figure out a different way to do it.
