An old chop top that was sitting in front of the NHRA museum this last weekend during the NHRA Winternationals. Unfortunatley I only took one shot, but I thought I'd still share.

its a lovely old rust bucket.
very nice shot of it

those wheels look so out of place on it's body
( maybe I'm missing something of 'why' ..or something )

I guess its for moving the wreck around a little adding today's latest (wheels )

It's what is commonly referred to as a Rat Rod. It's a popular trend right now in hot rodding. More of the aesthetic detail is spent on the motor and the body is left to look all ratty and worn. In many cases the rusty look is faked because the body is in much better shape.

I heard someplace that they allow the steel to rust then put a special clear coat on top to preserve the look. Great shot

One thing that I really liked about it was the grill on the front. It's all rusted over and all bent up. I'd love to see this thing driving down the street. I'm sure it turns heads everywhere it goes.

That's a nice Rat Rod. They're my favorites during the big hot rod weekend in Austin.
