Have a power shot A 85, and it hase a case but i still manage to drop it. last time i droped it i noticed that the Zoom does not work. The "wheel" does not really move around the button any more.
Should i send back and have them fix? Canon web site saif it is $100.00 to fix. But i never really explained what was wrong. any advice?
I use the camera mostly for work, taking firld pictures. And some home stuff.

They've pretty much got a flat-rate structure for those; they might even end up offering you a factory-refurbished later model for not too much different if the damage is very bad. For not too much more (although you'll need to change from CF cards to SD) you can get a new A460 which has more pixels and around the same zoom range, IIRC. B&H has that for $140.

With the price of this class of digital cameras as low as they are, I would never once consider sending it to Canon for repair, when a few bucks more would get you a brand new one. Just my opinion though, maybe not yours.

It's sad but true. Digital cameras are almost becoming throw away items. The repair costs are high and the prices keep coming down on new cameras.
