Flash --> white LCD screen --> power off

When I attempt to take a picture the camera will flash and the LCD screen will flash white and the camera will then turn off. I am able to view pictures from the memory card on the LCD. Is there anything I can do besides bringing it in to a camera shop? Thanks!

I dont want to make this sound too trivial, but are the batteries dead. It taked alot of juice to make the flash go off, and if it overexposes the picture because of the wrong settings the screen would go white. Then the camera would shut off if the batteries were dead. Concequently, when the batteries are too low to take pics, you can still review pictures.

Sometimes it is the simple things that go wrong. Hopefully in this case it is simple.
