I have an old AE-1 Chrome that I wanna get off my hands. I got a quote from KEH.com. Are they a reputable company to deal with or should I find a local store to buy it? Any other recommended used camera buyers would be helpful too. Thanks!

As a general rule you'll get the best price selling to individuals. Try here or FM.

yes, they are very reputible, but selling to a private imdividual if you can will get you more $$$, but not many are buying FD mount bodies anymore

Hmmm...Most on here and ebay are going for less than $100. KEH quoted me $152 for the body alone! seems like its a better deal there.

Just called KEH about MY AE1 and they quoted me $40 with the 50 and my 70-150 zoom and they wouldn't even care to take the 50...How'd you get to $150????

I'd like to know that also....I just got a quote from B&H on all the FD stuff in my signature and they offered under $600 for all of it. Would sell it myself on ebay first.

well my AE-1 chrome is in mint condition. not a single scratch on it anywhere. Enter that into the online quote wizard thing on KEH and they'll give a quote of $152. If i put that it has minor scratches, that value immediately drops down to like $60 or something. I didn't call them to ask, so they may find other things wrong and give me less.

I had 2 AE-1s (one black and one chrome). I had two motor drives, one canon and one aftermarket, assorted lenses and other goodies like remote shutter release etc. You get my drift? I darn near had to pay to get someone to buy it. There was nothing wrong with them and they were in great shape, I guess the fact that they are film is what is hurting them the most.
