hi

sorry

u lost me when u were talking about:

50/1.4 might be too long and something like the Sigma 30/1.4 EX or Canon 28/1.8

////

is that like the 430 cann flash but a different type / brand...?

u mean lens as well

.

yeah - i only have a 2.8 lens at the moment *standard)

, i know i need to get a better lens that simply lets more light in.

ill b edoing night clubs shots

of d.j's and people dancing on motion and people posing for the camera.....

the flash braketing wounds like a good idea

. can u actually do this on the 430 (as in it takes 3 pics with 3 levels of flash)

as i know u cant use flash braketing at all with the internal flash....

would ther enot be recyle time that will squash my chances of using flash braketing?

how about exposure braketing, is that a viable option u think

Aussiecat,

you might be a bit more specific about the kind of pictures you want to take in nightclubs.

If you don't want to take portraits, but maybe full body shots or something like that, then the 50/1.4 might be too long and something like the Sigma 30/1.4 EX or Canon 28/1.8 might be better suited. If you plan to do something like going from table to table to take portraits for money, then it might be useful to look at a flash bracket as well. It's not always possible to bounce if you don't have anything to bounce your flash from.

Best regards,
Andy

Hi Aussiecat,

sorry, have been pursuing my real life for the last days

A flash bracket is ... well, a bracket that is mounted to your camera and then gives some distance to mounting the flash. Often used by the people that walk the red carpet or go from table to table taking portraits. More useful at close range.

Looks like this:

The Canon EF 28/1.8, Sigma 30/1.4 EX and Canon EF 50/1.4 are 'fast' lenses that have a large aperture (small number=lots of light enter the camera) so you can use a faster shutter speed. However, for the application you describe, my best guess (NOT any experience I have in the matter, unfortunately) would be 'dragging the shutter' ... using a long time exposure to get backlight and using the flash to stop the motion. Look at this forum, there should be some threads on 'Nightclub photography', or 'DJ'....

Best regards,
Andy

some cameras, some lenses,
and still a lot of things to learn...
(so post processing examples on my images are welcome :D)
