disassembly guide for A95 (E18 error)

Hello, I have a Canon A95, which all of a sudden started giving me the E18 error. The camera extends the lens, pauses, then retracts the lens. Sometimes then the LCD screen goes all distorted, sometimes then it displays the E18 error. I have tried the 'tapping' on the USB side of the camera, gentle twisting the lens when it is extended, and using the TV out cable (Which displayed E18 error on my TV!).

The camera is out of warrenty, so I would like to try the disassembly route to resolve this error, can someone point me to a disassebly guide, or some sort of step by step, to properly take this camera apart, to see what is wrong with the lens???

Not the A95, but some other models, parts lists are here. The A60/A70 list may give you a better idea of what's involved.

don't think there is a disassembly guide there, but you can go to www.dcresource.com and do a search for "e18" or look in the Canon forum. There was a very lengthy thread awhile back discussing e18, and some posters linked to info about ways to possibly fix it.

From another A95 owner, hope that helps, and you find a way to fix it.
