I'm planning a trip to Hawaii in April and am thinking of the R-103 and the H-14. My concern is whether or not a 1D MKII will fit in the H-14 along with a 17-40, 100-400, and a P-3000.
Anyone?

I don't know how long the 100-400 is but with a 30D w/grip and a Canon 70/200 IS attached, that is all the bag can hold in the main compartment. If the MK II w/100-400 is longer, I don't expect this bag could hold it. If not then this bag should be able to hold the MKII, 2 lenses and the p3000. I am fitting a 10-22, 17-55, 1.4x TC, 70-200 IS and 30D/grip. It is TIGHT... Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

It's too big to fit anyway, unless it's a 50 1.4 or smaller lens, then you can face it with the back of the camera against you. Otherwise, 1-series bodies are too big. Moses Member 173 posts Joined Dec 2003 Location: Sammamish WA More info | Now I'm confused. The KATA web site says the H-14 will accomodate the following Canon cameras:
LengthWidth
My 1D MKII is 6" wide, 6.5" tall (if you include the quick release), and a hair under 11" with the 100-400. Maybe it might fit with just the 17-40 attached. This is really time consuming! ![]()

My camera is just as wide as can be allowed to close the front flap and zip it, but that is with full side pockets. Anything wider would go beyond the plane of the zipper. Now here is the disclaimor. If you only fill the side pockets up about 1/2 to 2/3 and leave the tops pretty empty, then the camera can go down further into the bag into the tops of the pocket sides. I don't think you will be able to put a smaller sized zoom (70-200mm f/2.8 IS completely fills one side pocket) and a wide angle with that camera unless you leave a majority of the other side empty, maybe all your batteries and small acessories. I now have officially removed any pockets of air in this bag. I have the following items in the bag, and my wife has no clue how that bag is holding the goods. Everything goes in and all zippers zipped. I think the bag is loosening up a bit. 1. Canon 70-200mm IS 2. Canon 17-55mm IS 3. Canon 10-22mm 4. Canon 50mm f/1.4 5. 30D with grip 6. Two extra BP511s 7. Body caps 8. Microfiber towel 9. usb cable 10. foot-tripod (cord with eye hooks, ghetto tripod) 11. Rain cover Attached to the outside with clips: Kenko 1.4x TC and memory card holder The only lens I own not fitting into this bag is the Bigma! Ha, like that will ever happen, even by itself. i am eyeing this bag for a "day bag" use especially on vacations, is that 70-200 IS a 2.8 or a 4? i believe your prior post says 2.8 but want to make sure. and if all this stuff is in the bag, you must have not a ounce of air left in that bag....but this is good news for me though, because i wouldnt bring as much gear for day trips. thanks for your input, helps me immensly. oh yeah one more thing, the hoods cant possibly be in the bag for the lenses??? Now if somebody could create a series of small hood bags that can fit on the straps, then you could take them. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Nice. ![]() How so? It still has the armor, all the padding inside and out? It still protects the contents, and hides it all at the same time. I see a little ribbing on your part, but honestly, the only thing I don't like about putting all of this in the bag is the fact that it is unwieldy to change lenses. Once you put items in the bag this way, you have to have a work area to move items around a bit. However, it is much, much better than the 200DG bag when it comes to taking the equipment with me to work or just a nice weekend drive. Ideally, the 10-22 won't be in the bag, freeing up alot of space. Not alot of times that this wideangle comes into play in my neck of the woods. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

My mind somehow told me that meant you took out some of the padding. Just a dip**** moment, unfortunately. Mac users swear by their computers. PC users swear at theirs.

I can't do it with one hand for fear one of the side pockets will unzip all the way and *PLUNK*.

SYS Cream of the Crop More info | Mar 20, 2007 21:44 | #29 H-14 is not really designed for carrying so many lenses, but you can shove a lot of things in that thing. One thing that you might want to consider is buying the Kata S-308 that is designed to go together with the H-14. Combined together, they look not only stylish and very comfortable on your shoulder, but you get extra storage rooms for things like filters, microfiber cloth, camera manuals, batteries and so on. I have this combo, and I love it!
