I am going out tonight to shoot some night snowboarding. I really want to bring along my 430ex. Weather forecast is for -12C and -20C with the windchill. I will be putting it into an air tight bag the same way I will be putting my body and lenses into a bag when I bring them into the house to warm up.

Will this really low temperature affect my 430ex? Will it break it?

The hardware will be fine. Expect some reduction in battery life. Carry extra batteries in a warm pocket close to your body and swap them out if you run out of juice.

Keeping your fingers warm will be the greatest challenge.

Thanks Curtis. Turns out there is 45km/hour winds tonight so we won't be going anymore but I do plan on getting out there soon! Glad to know my 430ex can take the 'cool' weather :)

PS your Flash 101 has REALLY helped me out. Much appreciated!
