strobe advice for indoor gym...please help

I am going to be shooting the indoor climbing competition at our St. Paul facility this coming saturday. However, the lighting isn't exactly stellar and am looking for a little extra flash power. My options are as follows:

1. (OK) - Use my 580EX and off-shoe cord to allow for more depth with my lighting

2. (Better) - Borrow another 580EX and set it up on a tripod to allow for two light sources

3. (Best) - Rent a proper strobe with a radio transmitter

My only problem with the third option is that I have no experience with any of this type of equipment and am not sure what to get from the local rental store that I would use. Well I've ended up being able to borrow sjafari's gear for the weekend which will include a 5D and a 580EX, so I should be ok. I might end up trying to get a hold of another 580EX to mount up high to balance the light out a bit.
