I think this one was my best shot of this bellydancer. I played a little bit with levels and it improved a lot.

Looks good, the only thing I would change would be just a tad faster shutter, and not cutting off the veil on the left side of the pic.

Other than that though, nice shot!

Nice shot. You might consider cropping off some of that empty space on top.

LuisE, i've looked through this series of yours in smugmug . The good ingredients were definately there ... the environment lighting, colour theme, and mood of the subject. However , i feel that the pictures failed to bring out the better of the situation. Is this your first time at this genre ?

You could further improve on the composition: Need to fill your frame tighter for some of the shots, minimise the dead space and the audience appearing in the background. Part of an important element in dance performance is facial expressions. So you need to notice the best moment to hit that shutter button. Remind yourself that you want to see more faces, instead of sides or backs. Not that sides and backs would never be interesting, there are times that they are , but usually better bet would be when your frame catches their front / partial front.

Do not be afraid to experiment with slow shutter sometimes. Belly dances the swirl and spin a lot, so plenty of chances to drag shutter for the colourful blurred movement of the veils ( use tripod / monopod ) . I know, i hate using any pods at all during dance performances, it's just so..... limiting. I'd chuck mine aside as soon as i've got some blurred movement shots which i'm happy with, and concentrate on moving around and get different creative angles.

Cheers and keep enjoying !!
