While in my yard Sunday I noticed the intense silence that ususaly tells me a Hawk is in the area. Coopers and Sharp shinned visit occasionaly. I did finaly see a Hawk heading North but the birds remained quiet anyway. Approximately 10 minutes later this red tail was coming in from the North...I ran for the camera just inside the door and changed shutter spped and ISO as I exited...just in time to turn around and get a burst as this hawk flew over.

Later in the day I went looking for Snowy Owls and Buntings as well as some Horned Larks that I have been having difficulty getting decent shots of this year. The light was not great but the Snowy Owl was cooperative hunting from a Hydro Wire . descending to the field ...then back to the wire or post before finaly returning to its favourite tree. This shot is it lifting into flight from the Hydro Wire...I cloned the wire out which ran diagonally along the botom of the image and added canvas to the top as the Owl was way too tight to the top of the frame. The heaviest of the Owls in N.A. with great strength...when they want to be airborne they are airborne..instantly.
