For some reason i'm drawn to Rescue Helicopters ;). I found it interesting that they deployed the line prior to dropping the rescuer in the water. IMHO the line should have been dropped after the rescuer went in the water in case the line gets tangled on something in the surf prior to picking up the people. This is not a operations thread, but in photos, something about a thousand words? :D Thanks for the shots!

From what I saw during the Demo the crew member who entered the water attached the line to the underside of the Helicopter (then deployed the line after a visual survey). They then dropped down over the water so the crew member could enter the water. The helicopter then backed off so that the crew member could attend to the patient. When all was ready they came back in hocked up and brought the patient to shore.

In the full gallery there are some cool shots of the patients being brought in. What is even more amazing is that this service is not funded by the government. The community owns the Helicopter and they survive on donations from the public. We are always very grateful for their assistance when we call on them.

That is amazing that the community owns the heli. What a strong community. I hope the program does not go away by directing the funds elsewhere.

Great shots. I like the flex in the rotor head of the second picture.
