Thanks for helping keep this thread alive. It helps folks vent, and take a break from the heavy Technical photographic reading.

I will add another word to the list:

Delinquent.

I was late a couple of days to pay my Business fee. Last week I was a Righteous citizen, today I am delinquent.

I think they should introduce a positive criticism campaign: Instead of calling you bad names to coerce you to pay, they should call you good ones to make you feel good, and happily remind you to your yearly duties.

For example:

Instead of Delinquent, Pre-payer.
Let go of Late Payment, say "Temporarily Postponed Payment"
Don't say REPO !!!... Simply say "Permanent Vehicle Service Check-in"

Let's see if we can get the MODS OUT THERE to change my title to Delinquent. Is it possible?... I wanted Space Monkey, but they're shying away.

Oh god, please don't get me started. I really hate, hate not love-less, those terms such as sanitation engineer, hey, he still picks up garbage and it still stinks. I was never comfortable describing a person as handicapped but there has to be something better than physically challenged.

I think I'll resurrect this thread before it passes its 2-year mark. I didn't read all 8 pages of it either.
One phrase that I strongly dislike, is "do/does photography".
I.E. "Oh, you do photography? So does my cousin!"
"My Uncle does photography."

Is it wrong that I dislike that phrase? What could/should be used in place of it?
"You're a photographer?" or, "He's a photographer."?

I don't like "Pulled the trigger" on a purchase.

So you're okay with "Distracting" now? :p

I hate it when people use words to sound smarter than others. Vocabulary that is beyond normal conversation. Sure if you are in an academic situation, go for it, but on an internet forum, please.

I'm afraid I don't understand the above post. In any case, exactly what is wrong with good English?

I hate when people say "I'll play" on the "Post your best..." threads. It's not a game, people!

Roy, Roy, Roy....

You and I know that good English is so rare as to be abnormal, especially here.

"Couple" without "of", as in "a couple pictures" instead of "a couple of pictures".

"Would of had" instead if "would have had".

Redundant intros like "what this button does is, it brings up a menu" instead of "this button brings up a menu".

Talking about background blur as if it is food, like "creamy" or "buttery smooth"

In fact, just the word "smooth" is enough to make my skin crawl, especially when it's pronounced as "smoooooooth".

The tendency to anonymize everything to a "product" instead of referring to it by its given name: "great product!", "I bought this product at...", etc.

Improper (?) use of adjectives, like "cheap price" (an item for sale can be cheap, not its price) or "cold temperature".
