Here's some help if you decide to go that route: Fill light at sunset If you are willing to do the least little bit of actual thinking, then I would recommend using a Sunpak 383 or the current release of the Vivitar 285. They do not use E-TTL metering, but use a sensor on the flash. This works in about 99% of the situations encountered except macro work. However, you have to set the camera's aperture and shutter speed manually based on the ISO chart on the flash. I've used Vivitar 283s for decades & what I like best about them is that the sensor can be replaced with a Varipower module which will adjust output down to 1/64th. If you can find a newer flash with a feature like that, you might like the versatility. Simple "every-day-emergency" location lighting FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...
