ConAgra Foods, distributor of Peter Pan and Great Value Peanut Butter has issued a recall on all their Peanut Butter products (external link) which begin with product code “2111.” Since I had to listen to this story repeated times throughout the night at work I decided to go home and see what was in our cupboard. Sure enough we had a total of 7 affected peanut butter jars. In fact, that was all the peanut butter we had in the house! Two of the jars were half empty. Now my wife tells me that she has not bought peanut butter since we moved to IN back in October so these are all left over from NY. Unfortunately, there are documented salmonella cases dating as far back as August which are stemming from this brand of peanut butter.

Here are two quick snapshots from our cupboard.

Boy you sure like peanut butter. I'm lucky if there is one jar in the house.

The peanut butter is courtesy of the WIC program which provides free staples to poor families. With four young children we fall in the "poor" bracket! :)

L lens courtesy of a substantial tax return courtesy of our Government's Earned Income Credit. One of the reasons why I like paying taxes.
