So when my Lightroom v1.0 arrives next week what's going to happen to LR BETA? Is going to simply be overwritten when v1.0 is installed, or will I have to uninstall BETA prior to or after installing v1.0?

I'm not positive, but I would be surprised if it didn't install right over the beta version or automatically uninstall and reinstall. I do know from this thread (external link) over on the Adobe forum that it will convert your existing LR database.

From my own experience with other software I'd be inclined to uninstall the beta version first but as Rick noted too maybe they post a install procedure pertaining to the two versions.

Because I'm not a big believer in using beta products for anything that I need to save, I don't have a lot invested in LR at this time so I will do an uninstall/reinstall wiping out my old database.

When you attempt to launch the Lightroom installer you will be told to use Add/Remove (Windows) or Uninstaller (Mac) to get rid of all appropriate files on disk. But not the image database because the a installer will allow for updating it to whatever is needed for the release version to recognize it.
