Congratulation! You have a cute little daughter and I am sure that she will be your preferred model within the coming years! To improve your skills in portraits like this you should look at many, many other captures of photographing people. Look how they try to capture a person's character or a special situation or behavoiur etc. ;)

Not to forget: Welcome to the forum! Keep on posting.
Best,
J.

Very cute daughter! As far as what *I* think could make it better... Try using a plain background. The brush or twigs are very busy and detract attention from the little cutie. Also, avoid bright areas around the frame of the photo, your eye constantly wants to go there because it's the brightest spot in the image.

That being said, you've got a great model there and I expect that you will find many, many photo oppourtunities!

I hope this is what you were looking for, in terms of feedback. Welcome to POTN.

your off to a great start. You got down on her level and you have catchlights in both eyes!!! If you have photoshop I would crop a little off the top and put a vingette on it. Great pic! And like everyone said you will have a great model!!! Just be sure to get a lot of practice in before she starts crawling away!!!!! :)

Welcome to POTN! Beautiful little girl you got there :) I think you left just a little too much empty space above her head though.

Very cute little girl. Apart from more careful framing- I think it's slightly underexposed. I think you're camera may have been fooled here (but I'm not sure why). Check out the histogram when shooting portraits like this or take the shot in RAW and you can adjust slightly afterwards. Overcast days are the best for portraits but they can sometimes be dull so carefull observation of the background and exposure is important.
