So I got my alien bees lights and my manfrotto background support system and backgrounds (just white and black for now)

we took this one yesterday right before bedtime so she wasn't too happy :)

I think I'm finally getting the hang off the lights

I think you did well. You might look in to poses. Straight on rarely makes for an interesting shot. Here's a start:
