i like canon powershot cameras because fo the swivel lcd. hands down is great feature to have. i had the powershot a610 before i lost the thing traveling. agh!!
looking to get A630 or A640.
is the 2mp worth the $70 dollar difference?

this time around with a camera purchase im looking to snap photos and have them printed. something slightly larger than 8x10 because my friends have been asking for some of my photos to be printed for them at slightly larger than 8x10.

would the A630 suffice? or am i better off spending the extra cash and getting the A640 with 10 megapixels?

also, i think last time i checked none of canon's powershot series shoots in RAW. is this true?

one last question and sorry to ask it here:
does any other camera besides canon have products with an LCD that slides out like canon? interested in looking at one other option before i make the purchase.

i thank you all

Hi there,

As you've seen the cameras are practically identical.

8 Megapixels will capture images that print up to 16*20" nicely
10 Megapixels can do 24*32" ... if you're looking to print 2feet by 3feet shots, the A640 is your toy ... if not (as your detail suggests), A630 is your friend.

Correct, they don't shoot in RAW. Someone has just created a 'hack' for the A610, A620, S2IS and S3IS. There isn't one for the A630 but I'm holding out for it :) Canon won't do it.

Not sure about other companies doing the flip screen ... don't recall it but I could be wrong on that :)

good quality ... though 12 megapixels would be ideal for these poster size prints I understand
